Seight at the Bay Crits

Posted on 22nd Jan 2012

Seight Custom Cycling Wear was proud to sponsor 2 teams in the recently concluded Jayco Bay Cycling Classic. We partnered with CCCC to enter them in the John Cornish Memorial Teams Support Race. The Jayco Bay Cycling Classic is the worlds fastest criterium series, and due to public demand the Teams Support Race was a new addition to the popular four-day event.

Race 1 was held at Ritchie Boulevard in Geelong, on the infamous hotdog circuit on the waterfront. Our team of young riders were in great form, with a number of riders placing well for the CCCC Junior Development/Seight Custom Cycling Wear Team. Munro and Clement Boydell finished in the top 10, while Zane Hunter and Jake Klajnblat were in the top 20. Unfortunatley, none of the CCCC Elite/Seight Custom Cycling Wear Team members were able to finish the race.

The Elite Team fared much better on Day 2 at the botanical gardens in Eastern Park, with Michael Gallagher taking home 3rd place, and Pete Smith just outside a podium finish in 5th. Ben White also finished in 14th place. The tough course and sweltering heat meant there were only 25 finishers in the race, and the Junior Development Team also had 3 finishers amongst those numbers, with Jake Klajnblat scraping into the top 10 at 9th, and twins Munro and Clement Boydell finishing in 16th and 25th places.

Stage 3 was a new course at Portarlington. It lived up to the pre-race hype of being the toughest course in the event, with only 16 of the Teams Support riders able to avoid being lapped. The Jayco Bay Cycling Classic concluded the following day with the grand finale in Williamstown, along the shore of Hobsons Bay. You can view photos of the event, including our stylish Seight cycling wear, on our Gallery Page.

Overall, the riders from the two CCCC/Seight Custom Cycling Wear Team performed well and enjoyed their time on the track at the Bay Crits. We were happy to receive lots of positive feedback about the look of the kit, and most importantly from the riders stating that they were kept cool and comfortable despite the testing weather conditions.
